IMPHAL, July 17: In continuing its effort to prevent transportation/sale/consumption of liquor in Senapati District, 842 litres of illicit liquor was seized from different places today by Kangpokpi Police and 43 Assam Rifles.
According to a police release, a joint patrol team of Kangpokpi Police and 43 Assam Rifles/ Kangpokpi Post today seized 474 litres of DIC liquor at Kalapahar from unauthorized possession of Thennu Chongloi of Chingmang Leimakhong under Saparmeina Police Station. The DIC liquor was being transported in a Maruti Car bearing registration number MN-04A-0836. The seized liquor along with arrested person was handed over to OC-Excise Kangpokpi post.
Further, another 368 litres of DIC liquor was seized at Keithelmanbi Lamkhai from unauthorized possession of Maibam Sanatombi Devi, 37, w/o M Premjit Singh of Kongjelima, Sekmai by a frisking/checking team of Kangpokpi Police Station led by SI Hemminthang today morning around at 6.30 a.m. The DIC liquor was being transported in an Alto Car bearing registration number NL-07-4083. The seized liquor was destroyed at Kangpokpi in presence of public leaders of the area.
