Manipur, IMPHAL, July 29: The Manipur state agriculture department is in a chaotic situation with some of the officials with authority sidelining the issue of drought despite of voices raised by the farmers of the state.
A reliable source informed that former agriculture commissioner Letkhogin Haokip issued an order for the devolution of powers from the director L Palendro and passed to some of the subordinate officers. Deputy Director Shamu Kabui has made in-charge of centrally sponsored projects and schemes, additional director Dr Nobo as in-charge of service matter and L Palendro as in-charge of Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Director Palendro had also met Chief Minister Okram Ibobi to discuss the present issues of agriculture department. However, the order issued by commissioner Letkhogin is still in effect.
IFP tried to contact present agriculture commissioner Rajesh Agarwal regarding the issue, but he was out of station. He would return Imphal tomorrow to attend the cabinet meeting.
