IMPHAL, July 22: 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 9 Sector Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) alongwith Thoubal Police Commandos apprehended SS Lt Kshetrimayum Noren Singh @ King, 46, who is the organisation head of Division VIII (Thoubal District) of PLA from Andro Khunao Maring Leikai on July 22, said a release of PRO.
According to the release, the apprehended person joined PLA in 1998 and received formal training in Myanmar. He was providing safe passage to PLA cadres infiltrating into the imphal valley and collection of taxes from civil and Govt bodies of the State in the Thoubal district. He was also involved in the ambush on IRB vehicle column in 2009 near Oksu in which four IRB personnels were killed.
The apprehension of SS Lt King is a major success for the security forces and could be made possible due to coordinated efforts of Assam Rifles and State Police. Apprehension of SS Lt Kshetrimayum Noren Singh @ King has delivered a major blow to the nefarious designs of the banned UG group PLA, it further said.
The security forces have recovered one 7.62 mm AK-47 along with 13 live rounds , one mag of AK-47 and Chinese Hand Grenade. His interrogation is likely to lead Security Forces to more cadres operating in the area, it added.
