Chairman offers clarification

IMPHAL, July 14: ADC chairman Haokholal Hangshing in clarification of the allegations leveled against him said that he has been holding the post for some six weeks only.

He mentioned that there is no hard and fast rule in the ADC Act to expand his cabinet within this time frame. Moreover, the congress councilors are bound by rules laid down by the MPCC.

“I have approached the concerned for expanding the cabinet and recommended 16 members for the vice-chair, the executive members can be appointed but should be done under Congress party rules”, Hangshing said he is awaiting instructions and cannot bypass the high command.

He further clarified that the ADC office at Kangpokpi is undergoing major repairs and there is no proper office infrastructure. “I am staying here due to the unfavorable law and order condition and per instruction from the state government, however it is a temporary arrangement”,he said.

For the matter of allocation of housing scheme, the chairman said that the allotment is made according to the number of BPL families residing in the members area and practically, it cannot be the same.

The matter of distribution of CGI sheets were discussed in a full house member meeting held at Hotel Imphal. There were absence of ten members then, but the quorum of the House was fulfilled and the distribution was done in a fitting manner and accordance to the needs of the projected BPL families, he clarified.
