IMPHAL, July 11: The state Chief Minister blamed the family members for reporting late to the police on the reported kidnapping of a supplier by NSCN (IM) cadres.
`Often times in many similar cases like this the police are informed later which has left the police handicapped,` said CM O Ibobi Singh.
`In this case also it was reported after 10 or11 days by the family members of the Irungbam Irabanta. But soon after they reported the police, the police alerted all the police station in the state,` he further said.
But he assured the house that police is putting every effort to locate him. A team of police led by an SP has been assigned for the case.
He also said that NSCN (IM) is under peace talk with the India government, and if the report on the involvement of NSCN (IM) cadres in the kidnapping of the contractor is true, then the individuals involved in the case will be punished by the book.
This was said by CM O Ibobi Singh replying to the calling attention motion raised by MLA Th Shyamkumar on the reported kidnapping of a supplier by NSCN (IM) cadres.
MLA Th Shyamkumar supplementing his calling motion said that he has the mobile number of a girl, who had informed the family members of Irungbam Irabanta that Irabanta is meeting Francis, who is said to be an NSCN (IM) cadre, at an NSCN (IM) camp.
He also said he has the mobile numbers of some other individuals involved in the case and he will provide the numbers to the CM or concern officials after today`™s assembly session.
Meanwhile, it may be mention that a contractor of Maphou Dam who was arrested by suspected NSCN-IM cadres along with a Maruti Gypsy and large sum of money has remained traceless for more than a month.
The abducted contractor is one Irungbam Irabanta, 38, son of (late) Kerani of Nongdam Maning Leikai and presently staying in a rented house near Gate No. 3 of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat. He is married and has a son of about seven years.
