IMPHAL, July 3: SWAK has urged the colleges and university to come clean on the additional fees collected during the time of admission.
According to a release of SWAK said that during the time of admission colleges and the university are taking additional fees. For example; inter college activities fee, cycle shed fee, extension lecturer fee, seminar fee, college maintenance fee, student welfare fee and campus development fee.
SWAK does not find any legitimate reason for collecting those additional fees from the students during the time of admission by the college admission committees, principals and teachers association.
This shows that the college admission committees and the concern authorities are doing whatever they wish to fill their pockets, it alleged.
These corrupt people in the educational institutions and departments are turning it into a business centre, it added.
It further said that the collecting of additional fees from the students can be avoided as the UGC has funded enough amounts for the all-round development of the colleges.
SWAK is also shock to learn that the concern authorities of some schools and colleges are acting as a mute spectator while their schools/colleges are made shelters for some workers and poultry farms.
All these things have happen only because of inaction by the government, other organizations and student bodies, it said.
Further, SWAK has stated that they will start conducting drives to the colleges to take an account of the additional fees collected during the time of admission from the students. During which the concern authorities of the colleges should provide a detailed report on collecting additional fees from the students.
SWAK has also appealed to the education minister and the concern authorities of the education (u) to look into the matter and punished those corrupt individuals.
