Computer monitors stolen from school

IMPHAL, July 23: Unidentified miscreants burgled into the computer classroom of Mekola Gulap Higher Secondary School on Saturday night and whisked away 10 LCD monitors.

The school is located near Mekola Bazar under Nambol Police Station.

Speaking to a team of media person, Principal in-charge of the school M Joykumar stated that the incident came to be known only on Sunday evening when the peon went for cleaning up the rooms.

The school authorities thereafter reported the said incident to Nambol police station on Sunday evening. However, there is no report of any arrest till the filing of this report.

It may be mentioned that 10 computer sets were provided by the education department and they are in use for the last one and half month.

While the whereabouts of the 10 monitors with the accessories were still untraceable, an integrated CPU was found in the corner of the campus fencing. It is believed that the CPU might have been so heavy that it is a burdensome for the burglars to jump over the fencing with that heavy item.

The Principal in charge said, “When the school has only two computer sets, students find very inconvenient. We were very happy that the government has provided us more number of computer sets but the act of some ant-social elements upset everyone in the school”.

He appealed to the government to trace the stolen computers at the earliest in the interest of the student community.

Everyone must respect public property, because it serves the interest of the whole community, he added probably appealing to the thieves.
