IMPHAL, July 14: The XXII Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony cum District Level Debating Competition, 2012 was held today at Peace and Freedom Academy, HaokhaSorarel, Thoubal.
The programme was organized by the High School Leaving Certificate Examination Private Centre Committee, Thoubal Centre (A).
The topic of the debating competition was “Lack of proper education policy has failed to provide quality education in the state.”
The function was attended by AkoijamMirabai Devi, Minister of Social Welfare and Co-operation and OkramLandhoni Devi, MLA of Khangabok Kendra as chief guest and president respectively.
Addressing the function, AKMirabai Devi said that there were many loopholes in the education system of the state, but the efforts made by the newly elected Education Minister has change the picture in the education system. She also believes that he will bring more improvement in the system.
She continued that, in this modern times, education is the only key and way to bring success to one’s life. There is no boundary and distinction between male and female in education.
All students must respect and honour their teachers and parents to be successful in life, said added.
The minister also donated Rs 10,000 as gratitude, acknowledging the hard-work of the students, to the organisation.
OkramLandhoni Devi, who attended the function as the president, told the students to respect and value their parents. For, their parents have sacrifice a lot to for their success and they have lots of hope from them. To be successful in life, one needs the support, love and care from their mother.
She said that sport is also a part of education and encourage the students to take part in sports.
She also donated Rs 10,000 and another 10,000 from her husband, who is the Chief Minister of the state, to the organizers.
