IMPHAL, July 4: Hearing continued today at the CJM Imphal West on the case arising out of the defamation suit filed by a devotee of the Godman Panthou Meitram Sumatibala against ISTV and 3 other individuals.
M Sumatibala is also the President of Ima Leishem Iraat Loishang based at the temple of Panthou. Her main complaint is that, a DVD film entitled ‘Langdai’ produced and aired by the defendants had poked fun at Panthou and it has deeply hurt feelings of the devotees of Panthou. Another complaint is that of trespass and filming of religious ceremonies in the temple of Panthou.
Sumatibala was earlier questioned by the defendant’s lawyer on the divinity of Godman Panthou and the lawyer had even challenged her claim of Panthou’s divinity in the courtroom.
IFP regrets earlier reports where the question and proof of divinity was projected as directives of the said court.
