IMPHAL, July 4: Director Education (s), W Rajen Singh today convened a meeting with Principals of three higher secondary schools to review the lack of infrastructures and teachers in the schools.

The schools are Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Johnstone Higher Secondary School and Sir Churachand Singh Higher Secondary School which have been recently instructed by the state Education Minister to accommodate all students seeking admission in the schools.

The school officials were TG Higher Secondary School Principal Pramodini, CC Higher Secondary Principal Indrani and Johnstone Higher Secondary Principal Indu Devi.

According to a reliable source, due to the recent stricture of the concerned Minister, the schools have been facing problems due to shortage of furniture, classrooms, hostels and teachers.

The schools had earlier notified that classes of the new academic session will start from June 6, however due to the shortages faced in accommodating the new students; the schools were unable to start as notified earlier.

The schools have started classes by accommodating the students in the available classrooms, the source said.

Coming back to the details of the said meeting, the source informed that the Director had assured the Principals that the department will try to incorporate the hardships faced by the schools and supply the shortages at the earliest.

It is also learnt that the department will call up teachers from certain schools where teachers dominate in the teacher-student ratio and placed them in the three schools as immediate relief for the three schools.

It is also learnt that the TG Higher Secondary has at present a Class XI student strength of 893 students in Science, 340 students in Arts and 62 in Commerce this year.
