IMPHAL, June 4: The Peoples Liberation Army has claimed to have inflicted casualties and injured several personnel of the 24 Assam Rifles in a firefight.
A press statement by Taohangsu Heiremcha, chief of publicity of the RPF claims that on Tuesday at about 6.15 pm, a team of 24 AR was attacked at Sita Khunjao of Chandel district.It was learnt from wireless interception that there has been casualties on the side of the Assam Rifles and the villagers of the area had also seen an ambulance arrive at the encounter site.
It further states that there are still three vehicles of the AR with one ambulance and the PLA cadres are still tactically positioned to attack them.
It was however learnt from sources that two sepoys of the AR has sustained injuries in the said attack.
