IMPHAL, July 10: Opposition MLA L Ibomcha has raised a calling attention motion in the House today regarding the blockade on National Highway No.2 imposed by Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) in the aftermath of a hijacking incident at Tadubi area.
He further stated that hundreds of buses and trucks have been stranded due to the blockade called by SAYO. The trucks heading from Dimapur are stranded at Lalmati.
Ibomcha requested the state home minister to take up necessary action to rescue the stranded vehicles.
Replying to the motion, home minister stated that 25 vehicles heading for Imphal have crossed the Mao Gate and another nine vehicles heading for Dimapur have crossed Mao.
He further maintained that Mao Police have registered a case FIR No. 17 (6) 2012 under section 384/34 IPC regarding the incident. The Maruti car and Tata DI have been recovered and some suspects have also been arrested. The case is still in progress and it will be completed soon.
Gaikhangam expressed his view that SAYO will soon lift the blockade if the culprits of the hijacking incident are arrested. The state government is currently having talks with the DGP, DC and SP of Nagaland.
