Hr secondary for every constituency

IMPHAL, July 8: The state Education Minister M Okendro has declared that the government is planning to establish higher secondary schools in all constituencies of the state in order to bring improvement in the education sector in the state.

The minister was speaking at a felicitation programme of students today organized by the Educational Development and Health Promotion Council (EDAHPCO) at Khanarok playground of Keirao assembly constituency today.

He also said that improvement in the state’s education sector is mainly due to the joint effort of the teachers, students and parents.

There is a need to establish more educational institutes in the state to churn out more good students.

He said contract works for construction of school buildings will now be handed only to the locals.

The government is there to provide any help to the general public, he assured.

The Minister, who attended as the chief guest also added that he will collaborate with the state Health Minister to bring proper health facilities in the state.

Local MLA Thamarjit Karam in his presidential speech expressed his happiness on seeing the peaceful cohabitation of the people of the area.

He said the construction of any school whether it is a Secondary School or any other, EDAHPCO will be given the responsibility.

He continued EDAHPCO will also be handed the responsibility in any health related activities in the area.

Further continuing his speech, the local MLA said he will start using his MLA Local Area Development Fund at the earliest.

Meanwhile, Standard Roberth Hr Secondary School, Canchipur, Principal Ph Landhoni who attended as guest of honour said a short term course for school drop-outs and weak students of class X from poor families will be conducted soon. The course will start by September, she said.

A total of 125 students were felicitated including 51 Class X (BOSEM), nine class X (CBSE) students, 52 Class XII (COHSEM) students and 16 Class XII (CBSE) students.

The 18 and 25 position holders of Class X state board were also included in the felicitation programme.
