IMPHAL, July 5: The opposition MLA Dr I Ibohanbi has raised a calling attention motion on killing of three Manipuris in an alleged fake encounter in Dimapur in the House today.
Raising the motion, MLA Ibohanbi stated that the incident happened in March, 2010 in Dimapur district of Nagaland where three Manipuris, namely RK Roshan alias Ronel from Tera, Th Prem from Langol Laimani and Th Naobi from Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai were allegedly killed in a fake encounter by the intelligence unit of 3 Corps at Dimapur and later disposed off their bodies at Karbi Anglong in Assam.
He questioned the state government as to why it had not initiated any action against the killing of three Manipuris. The matter came to light after the incumbent Chief of Army Staff Bikram Singh expressed his desire to conduct an enquiry into the incident.
The incident took place in Nagaland and Assam while three of them hailed from Manipur, however, no state has taken up any suo-motto case regarding the incident. No investigating agency has taken up any case to probe the alleged incident of fake encounter. The commanding officer of 3 Corps has also been intimated by General VK Singh to conduct a probe regarding the incident, but the officer has not done anything in this regard, Ibohanbi noted.
He also asked the state government if the Manipur Police has nothing to do in this incident.
Answering to the motion, home minister Gaikhangam stated that the state government has not received any complaint from the family members of the deceased persons and so Manipur Police has no knowledge regarding the incident.
MLA Ibohanbi also expressed his desire of handing over the case to an independent investigating agency such CBI.
