Meritorious students of Heirok honoured

IMPHAL, July 29: The Social Cultural Educational & Sports Development Organisation, Heirok today organized the Kh Itocha Memorial Award Distribution Function, 2012 at Heirok Bazar.

Successful students of Class X, XII-Science and medical entrance test from the constituency were awarded during today’s function.

The function was attended by Education Minister CAF & PD, M Okendro, CMD, SHRI, Langol Dr Kh Palin and Heirok Nagar Panchayat E SHanta Singh as ghief guest, functional president and guest of honour, respectively.

Speaking at the function, Minister M Okendro said the government under the Right to Education Act is in the process of undertaking full charge of the aided schools in the state.

This will also help the interest of the teachers of the government aided schools, he added.

Lauding the meritorious students feted today, the Education Minister said, hard work and dedication of the teachers are integral part in the process of scripting students’ success stories.

Okendro who also holds the portfolio of the CAFD & PD said, constituency-wise allocation of PDS items in the state will be announced on the first of every month through the several local media publications in the state.

He further urged the public to cooperate in the distribution of PDS items and further urged everyone not to interfere in the distribution process of the items including rice, kerosene etc.

The Minister also lauded the organizers for felicitating the meritorious students and said such function encourages the students.

Dr Kh Palin, in his brief speech said, till date, the organisers have been able to felicitate only students of the Class XII Science students, but from next year meritorious students of both the Arts and Commerce streams will also be included in the function.

He further acknowledged that there has been a lot of improvement amongst the student community of the constituency since last year.

“Time is life and life is limited.”

He further elaborated that the award has been instituted in memory of his late father who is from the constituency and said he wants to see the function as a grand success.

In his advice to the young minds, the doctor said, “We need to visualize our gaols in order to achieve it”.

We need to be clear about what we want in order to succeed in life, he continued.

He said the Shija Hospital, Langol is going to install a machine which would shorten the time taken for HIV and Hepatitis B, C testing. With this machine, testing for the diseases will take only nine days. The machine will be the first of its kind in the private hospitals of the NE region.

He continued that Manipur will soon become the medical hub in the entire South-East Asia and added Manipur is likely to become a highly developed state in the near future and we should be fully aware of it.a
