IMPHAL, July 24: While the Governor is yet to accord his approval of the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary and Allowance and Miscellaneous Provision) Bill, 2012, he has approved several other Bills which were passed during the recent sitting of the state Assembly.
The bills which have received approval of the Governor are the Manipur Value Added Tax (1st Amendment Bill) 2012, the Manipur Professional Traders, Calling and Employment Taxation (8th Amendment) Bill 2012, the Manipur Municipalities (6th Amendment) Bill 2012, the Manipur Panchayati Raj (7th Amendment) Bill 2012 and the Manipur Appropriation Bill.
Meanwhile, a source informed that the Governor is yet to approve the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary and Allowance and Miscellaneous Provision) Bill, 2012 and the Manipur Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Bill, 2012. The two Bills have already been submitted to the state Governor for his approval after it was passed in the state Assembly.
It may be mentioned that the state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had introduced the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary Bill in the state Assembly on July 10.
However, the Bill was passed by the house by voice vote on July 13 amidst a walkout by Trinamool Congress MLAs.
It may be recalled here that, the state Governor had earlier sent back a related Ordinance for reconsideration, before the assembly session.
Meanwhile, the House had also passed two other different Bills on July 13- the Manipur Panchayati Raj (7th Amendment) Bill 2012 and the Manipur Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Bill, 2012, .
The recent Assembly sitting on July 9 had also passed the Manipur Value Added Tax (1st Amendment) Bill, 2012, The Manipur Protection, the Manipur Professional Traders, Calling and employment taxation (8th Amendment) Bill 2012 and the Manipur Municipalities (6th Amendment Bill), 2012.
