`Real hero` winner Animal Gym, RK Viswajit Singh donates gym items to jail inmates

IMPHAL, July 14: Winner of the 2012 Real Hero Award-an initiative of the CNN-IBN and founder of the Animal Gym, RK Viswajit Singh today donated 25 gym items to the Sajiwa Central jail for setting up of a gym at the jail.

The gym items with a total cost of Rs 1.5 lakhs were handed over to the Jail SP, IK Muivah during a simple function inside the jail premise.

Speaking during the handing over of the items, Viswajit expressed his hope that the items will help the jail inmates to lead a healthy life and continued that the weight training will cleanse the minds of the inmates and help them lead a tension free life.

He also expressed his hope that the opening of a gym will help the inmates lead a normal and fruitful life once they come out of the jail.

Meanwhile, the Jail SP IK Muivah lauded Viswajit for his selfless action and expressed that it will tremendously help the inmates.

He continued that every country in the world has jails. Jails are set up for two purposes- the first is to award penalty to any wrongdoer and the second is as a place of rehabilitation and correction centre.

He further appealed to all to help the inmates correct themselves during their stay in the jail.

He also added that the jail authorities will soon chalk out a schedule for the inmates to use the gym.
