IMPHAL, July 16:  Naga Women`s Union (NWU) and RongmeiLuhPhuam (RLP) demands justice for the gang-rape case of Jangthailiu Kamei at the earliest. Justice delayed is justice denied. This will perpetrate injustice, encourages criminals with a feeling that justice will not catch up with them, said a joined statement of two women group.

According to the statement, though a rape and attempt to murder case of Jangthailiu Kamei by the armed gang of looters have been registered at the Bishnupur Police Station on the 22nd March 2012, no action has been taken till date. It is a shame, and an embarrassment to the women community as the state government had done nothing to bring the rapists to justice in this 116 days. The women group is prepared to take up intense agitation in the light of this snail pace of justice-deliverance.

It further said that women comprise half the population of humanity. A rape and an intrusion into woman`s modesty is a crime against humanity as a whole. It should be denounced and condemned and punished. At this juncture, the women group demand immediate action to be taken up to bring justice against the gang-rapists of Jangthailiu Karnei. These rapists must not be bailed out till justice is done to the victim.

Further it has demanded answer from the State Government and has questioned if a bribe is given to delay the process? The victim should be made available a copy of forensic report and the nature of suspension of the culprit from service. The state government should monitor and cause the police to submit charge-sheet at the earliest to initiate the process of judicial enquiry, it added.
