Vety Min assures better facilities in state

IMPHAL, July 14: PHE, Sericulture and Vety & Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas Konthoujam and IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip along with Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen and ADC, Kangpokpi Rupachandra today inspected the deserted Veterinary Hospital at Kangpokpi and the Regional Crossbred Cattle Breeding Farm at Turibari.

Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the inspection tour, the Vety & Animal Husbandry Minister Govindas Konthoujam said the government has already received proposal from the town committee regarding the shifting of the Veterinary Hospital nearer to the breeding farm and to construct a new market complex with a multi-purpose community hall at the present location of the veterinary hospital.

He further said that the Kangpokpi Vety Hospital which also acts as the Insemination Centre was constructed in 1996, however the hospital building is yet to be inaugurated and has been left neglected since then.

The Minister also informed that he has received news town committee about land encroachment around the vety hospital and the breeding centre.

Elaborating further on today’s inspection tour, the Minister said he was shocked by the condition of the two centres. He expressed that the department need to seriously look into the issues and developed the Breeding Farm.

He also said that he will work towards the development of the department.

Expressing discontentment over the pitiable condition of the department at present, the Minister said that during the past three years none of the schemes under the RKVY were implemented in the department however the sanctioned funds were found in individual bank accounts.

The Minister told the accompanying media persons that he will take up actions against anyone found misusing the fund meant for RKVY.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over the small allocation for the department from the state budget.

The Minister further assured that the department will open new mobile veterinary clinics one each in three districts of the state, however in case the department has surplus funds, the department will further open one each of such mobile clinics in the remaining six districts.

The Minister also acknowledged that unchecked cattle are brought into the state from other states, which could be unsafe.

He further appealed to the people for cooperation in developing the department in the state.

Meanwhile, local MLA Nemcha Kipgen expressed gratitude to the people of her constituency for electing her and further sought cooperation from the people in developing the constituency.

Acknowledging that there are lots of scopes for development in her constituency, the first time MLA said she will not dishearten her people and would always try to meet their expectation.

She further expressed her belief that the people of her constituency will cooperate with her in her endeavour to develop the constituency and added that she will seek all possible help from the concern Ministers in developing the constituency.
