Manipur, IMPHAL, Aug 31: A proposal of Rs 50 crores for police modernisation 2012-13 made by a state team has been approved by an Empowered Committee meeting at the national capital recently.
According to a source, a state team including the state DGP, Y Joykumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu and IGP (adm) C Doungel had proposed a Rs 50 crore for state police modernisation which would include Rs 7 lakh for acquisition of weapons during a meeting of the Empower Committee at the national capital chaired by Union Home Secretary Suresh Babu.
The proposal was made after a meeting of the State Empowered Committee which was held on August 27 regarding the consideration and finalisation of the Recast Annual Action Plan under Scheme of Modernisation of the State Police Forces, 2012-13.
