IMPHAL, August 17: To mark the fervour and festivity of 66th Independence Day, Assam Rifles units under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) participated in and organized various functions throughout the state.
With the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’, 30 Assam Rifles organized various events on August 15 in commemoration of the 66th Independence Day. The event commenced with the Flag Hoisting ceremony followed by drawing and sports Competition conducted at ‘Zion Children Home’ at village Mapao Khullen, Leishemba Maheikol School, Chingarel and Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong in presence of the village elders and leaders.
A colorful Independence Day was celebrated by 28 Assam Rifles at Assam Rifles Senior Secondary School, Keithalmanbi and all COBs. Flag hoisting ceremony was held at Keithalmanbi followed by cultural programme organized by the students of the School. President ARWWA HQ 9 Sector AR attended the occasion as chief guest.
15 Assam Rifles celebrated Independence Day at Thoubal. Military Band was displayed in the Independence Day celebration of District Administration of Thoubal dist. Commandant 15 Assam Rifles alongwith other civil dignitaries attended the function.
18 Sikh celebrated Independence Day alongwith Police Officers, representatives from police stations, Imphal West Commando, students, NCC cadets, village authorities and local populace.
23 Assam Rifles celebrated Independence Day with full military traditions & patriotic fervor in Ukhrul District.
6 DOGRA, celebrated Independence Day with various celebratory functions and competitions at Moltuk Khengjoi, L Bongjoi, Phaisanjang, Khengjang and Molcham.
Independence Day was also celebrated in Sajik valley by 35 Assam Rifles on the occasion of celebration, Schools, youth clubs and populace of Sajik valley participated wholeheartedly in the programme. As part of Independence Day Celebration-2012, 9 Assam Rifles organised a six km ‘Run for Peace’ in Moreh town on August 14 in association with Moreh Youth Club and Kuki Organisation.
