IMPHAL, August 20: 27 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) organized “EID-UL-FITR’’ celebrations at Soura and Kairak villages in Thoubal District today. The main Eid congregation was held at the Idgah at Soura and the Masjid at Kairak.
The highlight of the event was the rendering of the ‘Id Namaaz’ by the devout Muslims. After the prayers, a social event was organized at the Soura Community Hall, where the troops of 27 Assam Rifles greeted their brethren and shared food with them.
The Maulvi of the village conveyed that “Eid Ul Fitr” is the time for self reflection and focusing on the values of all the faiths and Id-ul-Fitr also fosters brotherhood and interaction.
The Commandant 27 Assam Rifles, in his message, conveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all and exhorted them to let the spirit of Id-Ul-Fitr build in us the spirit of compassion and love and promote unity, peace and prosperity.
In another occasion, 18 SIKH of 9 Sector celebrated EID in Bengoon village with the local people today. Villager’s alongwith the students of Madrassa and members of anti-drug association were present for celebrations. The troops from 18 SIKH attended the Namaaz at the Masjid and wished the whole community on this day.
The Unit distributed rations and provided monetary help to the Anti-drug organizations and Madrassa’s of the area. The heads of anti-drug association and Madrassa pledged their full support to the Unit on its ongoing drive against the anti-social elements.
