Ashoka to arrive in Imphal today

IMPHAL, August 25: In what could be perceived as an act to woo back the lost confidence and trust amongst the people of the North East following their large scale exodus from Bangalore in the past week, the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka and his team will be landing at the state capital on August 26.

He will be accompanied by Karnataka DGP, Lalrokhuma Pachuau, Press Secretary Dr BR Mamatha and staff Chandrasekhar.

According to a reliable source, the Karnataka Deputy CM during his one day stay in the state will be meeting the state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and a few representatives of parents of students and others who have recently returned from Bangalore.

The source informed that the VVIP team will be arriving at the Imphal Airport at 11:50am by Air India flight no AI 889 and will be received by Special Secretary (Home), GoM AK SInha and Protocol Officer, Deputy Secretary (Home), Rehauddin Choudhary and other officials.

The Deputy CM and his team will stay at the Raj Bhawan for lunch till 1:50pm.

The Deputy CM and his team will call upon the state Home Minister at the Old Secretariat, South Block from 2pm till 2:55pm.

Soon after his meeting with the state Home Minister, the Deputy CM will call upon the state Chief Minister at his office at 3pm.

The Karnataka high profile team is also likely to meet a few representatives of parents of students and others who have returned from Bangalore at the Chief Minister’s Office.

The Deputy Chief Minister will halt for the night at the Imphal Raj Bhawan. The DGP and the other officials will be staying at the Classic Hotel.

The Deputy CM will leave the state at noon the next day.
