IMPHAL, August 24: The 39th Foundation Day of Ideal Blind School was celebrated here today at the school premises.
The function was graced by Social WelfareMinister AK Mirabai Devi as the chief guest and Director Social Welfare G Satyabati Devi as the President.
The function was to celebrate not only the foundation day but also to celebrate the school’s success in the last HSLC exams. The school was successful in attaining 100% pass percentage this year which made it more celebratory for the school.
The passed students were presented with special gifts as a token of appreciation and hard work. The students who also successfully participated in sports events in the national level were also given special gifts.
Minister Mirabai Devi rejoiced for the successful students and also announced a monetary award for each successful student from this year onwards. The students who are able to acquire the First Division will be given awarded Rs. 10,000, Second Division with Rs. 7,000 and Third Division with Rs. 5,000 respectively.
Also for the students who are successful in sports at the National level will be given monetary award which will be Rs. 5,000 for gold medalist, Rs. 4,000 for silver and Rs. 3,000 for bronze.
Adding good news for the students, she announced that an additional 20mins will be given to the students when they appear for exams so that they students will have ample amount of time to answer their exams.
While announcing the good news, she encouraged the students to work hard and not to feel any kind of inferiority against anyone else because everyone is the same and there are so many things that they can do that even a physically able people is not able to do.
The students of the school presented to the Minster a memorandum which included issues pertaining the school which she promised to get resolved as soon as possible and she also informed that the issue of hiring more teachers as some teachers have already gone on pension is being discussed by the department already.
