Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has assured the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh that people from north-east will be given full security in the state. He said no untoward incident has taken place against the people from North-East and they do not face any threat in Karnataka.
Mr. Shettar asked Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashoka, who also holds Home portfolio, to instill confidence among the people from North-East residing in Karnataka.
The assurance came after the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde talked to Karnataka Chief Minister over phone last night in this regard.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also spoke to Mr. Shettar regarding the safty and security of people from North-East in Karnataka.
