Manipur, IMPHAL, August 14: A documentary entitled ‘Ruptured Spring’ directed by film maker Haobam Pawankumar was screened at Hotel Classic today. The film is an initiative of the Wide Angle Social Development Organization, Manipur under sponsorship from the European Union.
The 17 minute long documentary depicts the children of the state bearing the brunt of the law and order situation, child labor, children living with HIV/AIDS and the other issues affecting children at present.
The official function was attended by MLA, Ng Bijoy as the chief guest. Arts and Culture Director, K Sobita and ex-member of Manipur Human Rights Commission, Yambem Laba were the president and guest of honour respectively.

Montu Ahanthem, secretary of Wide Angle in his speech mentioned that, the objective of the film is to further advocate the issues of child rights and its manifestations resulting in children dropping out of school, trafficking and recruitment of child soldiers through the medium of the visual media.
The film shot by Pawankumar depicted the present status of children being caught in various situations. The plights of HIV affected children, children living in shelter homes and taking up different jobs and children of the state being trafficked was displayed in the documentary.
In the review of the documentary, various child activists gave their views and what changes needs to be done in respect to the interest of the children and if the film should be shown in different platforms.
