IMPHAL, Aug 17: The Coordination Committee of student bodies of the state has today lamented the silence maintained by the state Chief Minister regarding the reports of assaults and threats to the people of the North East region.

Speaking at a press conference at the MSF office, spokesperson of the committee Suresh said the state Chief Minister should talk to his counterparts and assure that the students from the state are secure outside the region.

He said there have been several reports of attacks on people from the region at Pune and threats in Bangalore in the past two three days.

Further lamenting the loss incurred by the students due to the present situation, the committee has also urged the concern governments to look into the issue and bring a solution and help the students continue with their normal studies.

The committee has also appealed to the students to remain calm and not to panic.

He has further urged the students who have returned to the state to share their experiences to the student body and clear the doubts in the minds of the people of the state.

Meanwhile, another student spokesperson, Angamba lamented that even though the state Home Minister has already made his statement regarding the mass exodus of students from Pune and Bangalore, the state Chief Minister has remained silent so far, which is not befitting of a state Chief Minister.

He continued that the fact that the government has remained silent dismissing the assaults and threat to the students of the region as rumours even after it has been reported that students of the state were beaten up at Pune is uncalled for and not right.He has also asked upon the government to find out why a certain school has closed itself for a month after one of its student who happens to be from the state was assaulted in the school premises.

The committee has also appealed to all concern not to impose any blockades or bandhs along the National Highways considering the plights of the general public.
