IMPHAL, August 5: State law enforcers today had a field day and for once instead of wearing their official khaki uniforms don a uniform of a different kind. Imphal East Police and Imphal West police led by IGP (LO-I) L Kailun and DIG (Range-I) Clay Khongsai and arrived in hordes to witness and cheer a football match.
In a first of its kind football match, Imphal West Police today fight it out with the Imphal East Police during a friendly match at the Khuman Lampak, Main Stadium.
The Khuman Lampak Main Stadium which is mostly filled with athletes honing their talents in different sporting disciplines was full of police personnel of the Imphal East and West police stations.
Imphal West police defeated their Imphal East counterparts by 3-0.
Wungpam Kasar, Th Krishnatombi and Munal scored the Imphal West team.
While the Imphal East team managed to take the ball pass the Imphal West defence on quite a few number of times creating their own chances of equalising the scoreline, they failed to send the ball past the Imphal West custodian Anand.
Several top police officers of both districts also participated in the friendly.
Meanwhile, DSP Th Krishnatombi sponsored the winner’s, runner’s up and best player’s trophies.
Impal West goalie Anand was adjudged the best player.
