IMPHAL, Aug 4: Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykishan has distributed the old-age pension to the beneficiaries of Thangmeiband assembly constituency in a function held today at Lioni Memorial Community Hall located at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru, Imphal.

Speaking at the function, Joykishan stated that nasty politics in old-age pension scheme is quite unfortunate. The process of opening personal accounts of the pensioners is near completion, he added.

Imphal West DSWO Kh Ahanjao stated that there will be no pension distribution at Ibudhou Naothingkhong Lampak on August 10. The department does not acknowledge IMC Ward No.1 councilor Sorokhaibam Binarani. There is no pension book in the custody of the councilor, he stated.

The social welfare department will make special arrangement to distribute pension to those beneficiaries whose cards were allegedly collected by MPCC general secretary Jotin Waikhom and IMC councilor Binarani.

The number of beneficiaries in Thangmeiband assembly constituency for Manipur Old-Age Pension is 435, Indira Gandhi National Old-Age Scheme is 1146, Indira Gandhi National Widow Scheme is 79 and Indira Gandhi National Disabled Pension Scheme is 7.

Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the local clubs of Thangmeiband assembly constituency convened today at Rising Youth Club, Thangmeiband Polem Leikai demanded a clarification from Jotin Waikhom and Binarani for allegedly keeping the pensions books of some beneficiaries in their custody.
