LAMKA, Aug 4: The team from Jubilant Oil & Gas Private Limited which had gone into far flung areas of Parbung , Pherjawl and others since early part of this year on an exploration survey had not taken the consent of the village chiefs, instead they conducted the survey under the chiefs’ domain with the help of the Army.
There were many complaints as they failed to work based on the fact that prior consent of chiefs should be taken said Chaltonlien Amo MLA and Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee , HAC, today on the occasion of hearing with public leaders at BRGF Hall at DC/Ccpur office over the governments` plan to explore as to whether petroleum deposits are there or not into some parts of Thanlon , Tipaimukh and Henglep .
Amo further said he didn`t even know about the start of the Jubilant company`s work for exploring oil but came to know only when many complains was made and while giving instruction to the Project manager to obtain first consent of the chiefs concern .
The Project manager Sandeep Akula in response said he will give strict instruction to his field staffs while pointing out, normally, verbal agreements were made with the local people.In this connection the DC/ Ccpur pointed out the importance of consultation among the officials.
In today`s hearing , the main focus is on land and its safety as a result of which many question about it were raised to the project manager Sandeep Akula by leaders who have taken part .
He said about 15 – 17 hectres of land will needed for the project and will be acquired on a lease basis upon completion of the three stages of Seismic survey , Exploration and Oil extraction by taking the peoples consent
Stating the jhum cultivation areas will not be affected he said the land agreement is between the state and central government by obtaining the chiefs permission while the royalty share of the state should be 10 percent in case of the natural gas and 15 percent in case of oil .

Another hearing has been fixed at Parbung village on the 8th August next.
