Minister inspects godown

IMPHAL, August 10: Minister of Education and CAF & PD, M Okendro Singh inspected the FCS godown at Mayangkhang, Senapati District, which has been newly constructed by Technical & Promotional cell/Hill-II under Registered Corporative Society, Government of Manipur today.

Briefing media persons during the inspection the minister said that the godown will be inaugurated in the coming October month. The estimated cost of the godown is Rs 6.30 crore.

He further said that the godown can hold 5000 metric ton capacity and the government has a policy for construction of such similar godown in every district of the state.

The government’s aim for constructing of such godown is to store and make available of PDS items and other necessities to the beneficiaries easily, he added. He appealed for support to all the MLAs in the state.

The minister was also accompanied by MLA Senapati Alexander Pao, Health Commissioner Moses Chalai and other high ranking officials.

Continuing his inspection tour of the district the minister further inspected two government institutes, Sardar Patel High School at Mao and Hill College at Tadubi.

Speaking with media persons, Kaikho Heni, an authority of Sardar Patel High School, said that the school has 21 teachers and 150 students. But due to lack of staff and teacher and other infrastructure they are facing a lot of problems.

A village authority at Hill College told media persons that Hill College, Tadubi has 330 students with regular nine teachers and six part time teachers. He also said that the college was lying defunct for 20 years but after the arrival of the new principal, the college has started function again. However, the college is facing lots of problem with inadequate staff, teachers and infrastructure.

During the inspection the school and college authorities have submitted a memorandum each to the Education minister.

The minister further attended the fresher’s meet functions of two schools, The Mount Everest College, Senapati District and ASUFU Christian Institute, Punanamei, Mao as chief guest respectively.

Speaking at the functions, Minister Okendro expressed his willingness for better communication between the hill and valley for all round development in the state.

Noticing the fine infrastructure and systematic way of teaching of the two schools, which has been setup by the local MLAs, Alexander Pao and L Dikho, he lauded the two MLAs.

As long as people like Alexander and Dikho lives, his dream of bringing a great change for the betterment of education system in the state will surely be fulfilled, he said.
