IMPHAL, Aug 19: The body of baby Miranda who was found murdered at Wabgai Thambal hillock on August 14 was handed over to the family members for performing the last rites today.
Meanwhile, the accused couple who were lynched by a mob yesterday in connection to the murder, namely Samjetsabam Suranjoy alias Itobi and his wife Tombi still remain at JNIMS morgue and not claimed as of yet.
It was reported that the locals of Wabagai Tentha has notified that the last rites of the deceased couple cannot be held at their residence, even after the post mortem has been completed. Further, a meeting attended by locals of Thabal Chingya, Tentha and Tekcham today resolved that the family member of the deceased will not be allowed to settle in the area.
