IMPHAL, August 7: The Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organization has today demanded a clarification from the state Chief Minister and the Social Welfare department on whether the distribution of old age pension for Thangmeiband held at Thangmeiband Naothingkhong playground residence of one Jyotin Waikhom was held with their approval.

Speaking at a press conference, TAKDO president Mecha said that DSWO (I/W) member secy Kh Ahanjao had distributed pensions through the local MLA Joykishan on August 4 at Leoni Memorial Community hall, Thangmeiband.

However, since some pensioners had deposited their pension books with Jyotin Waikhom and councillor Binarani they were unable to withdraw their pensions, Mecha alleged.

He further continued that on the same day the DSWO had assured that a day will be announced for the left out pensioners after consultation with the higher authorities.

He further charged that the Chief Minister and the Social Welfare Minister were supposed to attend the distribution of pensions organized by Jyotin and Binarani yesterday according to the invitations handed out.

He further demanded clarifications from the Chief Minister, Social Welfare Minister and the Social Welfare Director on whether the pension distribution had their approval.
