Red Shield Division organizes state level seminar

IMPHAL, August 18: The Red Shield Division has organized a State level Seminar on “Manipur Society: Emerging Dynamics” at the Red Shield Auditorium today, to focus attention on the myriad intricacies of the dynamics of the Manipur Society and discuss measures to find solutions to its problems.

The Seminar saw a galaxy of eminent personalities including Lieutenant General AK Sahni, SM, VSM, Corps Commander, 3 Corps, OSPaonia, lAS, chief secretary, Manipur, Y Joykumar Singh, IPS, DGP, Manipur and other members of the academia and intelligentsia. The audience consisted of a vast cross section of the society consisting of students of schools and colleges, scholars, media personnel and bureaucrats.

The inaugural address was delivered by Lt General AK Sahni SM, VSM, GOC, 3 Corps, in which he highlighted about the rich cultural and diversity of the state. The General emphasizedthat such forums provide a platform for all stakeholders to discuss contentious issues and arrive at a possible roadmap for the future of the state.

The keynote address was delivered by DS Paonia, lAS, chief secretary, Manipur, in which he brought out the various facets of conflicts in the state and emphasized on looking beyond set piece conventional solutions.

The Seminar was conducted in three sessions, followed by an interactive session with the audience. The other speakers of the seminar included Y Joykumar Singh, IPS, DGP, Manipur, OkenJeetSandham, Prof L Sadananda Singh, Grace Shatsang, Mazida Khan, Comdt (retd)RS Jassal, YambemLaba, Lt Col(retd) KA Singh andCapt (retd) Ashok Tipnis, Prof Gangmumei Kamei, Chief Justice (retd) WA Shishak and Dr M Nara Singh were the chairpersons for the seminar.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Brigadier SK Sharma, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade. The valedictory address to conclude the seminar was given by Major General BinoyPoonnen, VSM, GOC Red Shield Division, where he said that the need of the hour is to look beyond ethnic divides in the overall interest of the state and devise a via media for mutual co-existence and fulfillment of common aspirations.
