IMPHAL, Aug 4: As part of the security measures taken up in regard to the upcoming 66th Independence Day of the country, the Imphal West district police today conducted a search and cordon off operation at the Governor Road at around 3pm this evening.
The operation which was led by Dy SP, Imphal West cdo, Sarangthem Ibomcha was conducted from Diamond galli to Indra Colour along the road.
17 individuals who were unable to furnish their proper identification papers during the operation were picked up for further identification at the City Police.
Out of the 17, one is still in police custody after his inability to furnish his proper identification, however the remaining 16 were released later in the evening after their identification was done at the police station.
