IMPHAL, Aug 17: The All Lamka Taxi Owners’ Society, Churachandpur today submitted a memorandum to the district Deputy Commissioner urging actions regarding a monetary demand imposed to the society by a certain militant outfit.
Speaking to media persons today at the Tuibong, Peace Ground, Lamka CCpur, society assistant secretary, Th Lokendro said the banned militant outfit PREPAK had made a monetary demand of Rs 10000 per vehicle under the association.
The demand was made through the telephone, he said.
The association has 30 vehicles plying along the Imphal-Churachandpur road.
Representing the association, he said that the association is not in apposition to deliver the demands of the militant outfits.
The memorandum has also highlighted the problems faced by the association regarding its parking space at Imphal.
According to the memorandum although the association has already appeal to the state transport department regarding the allotment of parking sites for the vehicles, the appeals have been neglected till date.
