IMPHAL, August 4: Union Taekwondo Academy, Keishamthong became the overall team champion of the state level Taekwondo championship for a record 13th time today.
UTA secured 396 points to become this year’s overall team champion at the 28th State Level Taekwondo Championship, 2012 at the Khuman Lampak Indoor stadium.
The championship which started on August 1 concluded today.
The overall team runners’ up, National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak was way behind the champions with just 309 points.
UTA secured 17 golds, 19 silvers and 20 bronzes en-route to becoming the champions for the 13th time.
NSA secured 16 golds, 8 silvers and 11 bronze.
In the Sub-Junior boys’ category NSA secured 124 points to become the winner, while CTA with 105 points was the runners up, in the same category for girls, UTA secured 96 points to become winners, NSA secured 94 points to become the runners up.
In the Junior boys’ category NSA secured 64 points to become the winner, while UTA with 59 points was the runners up, in the same category for girls, UTA secured 58 points to become winners, SAI secured 40 points to become the runners up.
In the Senior men’s category SAI secured 58 points to become the winner, while UTA with 45 points was the runners up, in the same category for women’s, UTA secured 48 points to become winners, SAI secured 45 points to become the runners up.
In the Sub-Junior boys’ U-21 kg category Surya Besta (CTA), N Jurish (CTA), N Nelson Singh (CTA) and S Sunder Singh (PTA) took the gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the same category, U-35 kg, N Dilip Singh (NSA), S Devaraj (NSA), N Johnson Meetei (PTA) and G Sapin Sharma (PTA) took gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In the Junior boys’ U-48 kg category S Devajit Singh (NSA), M Ronaldo (UTA), S Langjing (UTA) and K Kishorjit (SAI) took the gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the Junior Girls’, U-44 kg, Ch Malemnganbi (NSA), U Rojita (SAI), A Linthoi (SAI) and Y Naobi (UTA) took gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In the Sub-Junior girls’, U-18 kg category L Rani (CTI-S), Milky S (UTA), W Saniya (CTA) and Nirupama (UTA) took the gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the same category, U-32 kg, N Jina (NSA), N Malemnganbi (NSA), Sh Kritika (UTA) and Th Memi (CTA) took gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In the Senior men’s U-63 kg category A Premkumar (SAI), A Khagemba (SAI), H Rambo Meitei (CTA) and Kh Dayananda Singh (UTA) took the gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in the Senior women’s, U-53 kg, T Rajia Lily (SAI), L Asha (UTA) and L Anjali (UTA) took gold, silver and bronze respectively.
The concluding day today was attended by Thanga MLA, T Mangibabu Singh, YAS Deputy Director, Ch Santikumar Singh and Arun enterprises proprieter, Th Arun Singh as the chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.
