IMPHAL, August 29: The United Progressive Adult Association today organized a formal reception ceremony of its football team recently crowned the I/E Moirangthem Ibobi Memorial 1st Division football league champions and fencers who had participated at the 14th Sub Junior and 9th Cadet boys and girls national fencing championship at Gwalior.
The function was held at Kyamgei Ideal High School Ground.
Ten of the UPAA fencers had represented the state at the national championship. All the ten fencers brought home medals – 11 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronze in total, helping the state team to become the overall champion in all categories.
UPAA fencer S Hiron clinched four golds and the best fencer title.
The players were handed over with simple gifts during the reception function.
UPAA, founder president, L Yaima, former president UPAA, Kh Ibohal and patron member UPAA, Ph Landhoni and president UPAA, L Bhubon attended the function.
