IMPHAL, Aug 11: The unauthorised welcome gate ‘Welcome to Tamenglong district’ at Phaiton village on NH 37 was removed by villagers of Phaiton today morning following objections from the Jiribam populace and the police.
Phaiton village is about half a kilometre away from Gularthol and they had found the new gate erected on the site.
As serious objections were raised by the Jiribam public, police rushed to the village that the gate needs the permission of the Imphal East District within which jurisdiction Jiribam comes in.
