IMPHAL, September 27: Herojit scored a hattrick for Manipur to help his team defeat Bihar by 9-3 in their Pool H league match of the ongoing Second Hockey India Senior Men National Championship at the MEG ground Bangalore today.
It may be mentioned that the state team had routed the Andaman and Nicobar team by 16-0 in their first group match on September 26.
Manipur will meet the Combined Indian Universities team on September 27. A win will surely reserve a quarter final berth for the state team, however the state team could still qualify for the last 8 even with a draw in their last group match tomorrow.
Goals for today’s win were provided by Herojit (20th, 55th, 59th), Chitaranjan (9th, 47th), Hera (12th), Gyanendrajit (31st), Jayenta (41st) and Abung (57th).Out of eight penalty corners received, the Manipur team converted two.
