CM assures better power supply, Okram Ibobi inaugurates five power sub-stations in whirlwind tour

IMPHAL, September 21: In a whirlwind inauguration tour, the Chief Minister in nearly two hours inaugurated five electric sub stations in greater Imphal area today morning.
One 132/33 KV sub-station was inaugurated by the Chief Minister at Kongba along with the four sub stations which have transmission capability of 33/11 KV located at Kangla,Sangaiporou, Kakwa and Sangaipat respectively.
The function at Kongba also saw the launching of the online energy billing portal for Imphal East Division-1.For the first time in the State, the energy billing facility has been provided through the website www.energybill.man.nic.in and around 15,000 of the Imphal East Division 1 can avail the services through the internet facility and check their respective bills.
The inaugural function at Kongba station saw the Chief Minister as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present at the occasion were former power minister Phungzathang Tonsing, Agriculture minister Nasir Khan, MLA Kh Debendro od Sekmai constituency, V Valte of Tharon constituency and Elangbam Chand f Yaiskul constituency. The VIP entourage were accompanied by the power chief engineer , Sarat along with power commissioner Rajesh Agarwal among other officials.
Commissioner Rajesh Agarwal praised the efforts of the State governance in its endeavor to provide abundant power supply for the State. He mentioned that, at present the State needs to have good transmission lines to provide power to the far flung areas. There are about 15,000 consumers under the Imphal East District -1 and they have the advantage of checking their power bills through the website.
He mentioned that there are steps for providing power to the State in future and in the next two months, Imphal City power consumers will be able to view their bills online and at anytime. The preparations for the Electricity Department to address the woes of the public will take some time and it was acknowledged by the officials.
It was mentioned that the rest of the State will have e-billing facilities within the next 6/8 months which would ensure that the bills will be available through the internet anytime and there would be no gross overlooking and for people to stand in queues.
The Chief Minister in the occasion spoke that the newly introduced online billing system would largely commensurate the public as there would be no need for standing in queues or otherwise complaining for untimely arrival of electricity bills.
He state that the predicament of the public in not getting enough electricity to meet the day to day requirements is viewed seriously by the Government and various steps has been taken up to augment the losses
The need to provide power to the far flung areas is at the foremost and the state is doing its best in inviting private firms among others for effective redress of the power woes.
Mentioning that there will be better power supply in the State, it was mentioned that there is need of co-operation from the public to set things to arrive in a specific conclusion.
The CM stressed that there will be better power supply in the State at present and for the future. He said that the projects of the Tipaimukh Dam and the Loktak upstream project will take time for completion. But. The government has planned for the future, it said.
He mentioned that for effective power supply, the new 400 KV line is being laid from Jiribam towards Imphal and hence after completion, there would be a general improvement in the future. As of now, the government cannot achieve the demands of the public, he said.
Phungzathang Tonsing also appealed the public not to give in to unreasonable demands and that later, one such order can be forged.
