IMPHAL, September 10: Reacting to an advertisement which appeared in one of the local dailies regarding Chingamakha Luwangpokpa ground, Meira paibis of seven leikais of the locality staged a sit in protest at the ground today.
Later Publicity secretary of Model Club Chingamakha Heisnam Inaotombi denounced the advertisement that it is based on lies and untruth.
He condemned the claim of Chingamakha Taba Maisnam Community Development Committee, CTMCDC in the advertisement that the president and secretary of Model Club Chingamakha are conspiring to take possession of the Ibudhou Luwangpokpa Laibung (ground).
He said a dispute has been raging between the CTMCDC and the seven leikais of the locality including the Model Club regarding the construction of a community hall at the Ibudhou Luwangpokpa ground.
The construction of the community hall was to start before the February elections, however due to the dispute, construction had been postponed since then, he said.
He continued that the locals and Model Club are not against the construction of the community hall, however if at all it has to be constructed it should be done by tearing down the old buildings just adjacent to the ground including the Meira Shang and the Maibi Shang and leave the ground which is used by the young children as their playground.
Meanwhile, representatives of the meira paibis of the seven leikais echoed that they support Model Club on the issue and any intimidation on the club would be considered as intimidation to the women bodies.
