IMPHAL, September 4: Titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba expressed his unhappiness over the tardiness of the people of the state.
The titular king made this expression after he had to wait for a couple of hours for the function he was attending, to start.
Leishemba Sanajaoba was attending the inaugural function of the 2nd All Manipur Pung-Cholom/Thang Ta Best Fighter Championship 2012 which was held today at the Kang Shang, Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak organized by the All Manipur Huiyen-Lalong and Traditional Cultural Preservation Committee (AMHLATCPC) Manipur.
The function was graced by King of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba as chief guest, O Lokendro Singh, core faculty member (Comp Engg), State Institute of Rural Development as guest of honour and P Samu, vice-president, AMHLATCPC as president.
The function which was scheduled to start by 10 am started around 1 pm.
Speaking at the function, Leishemba Sanajaoba expressed concern over the degrading moral values of the people of the state.
“Let us learn to be punctual in our works. It has become a common thing in the state to start a function late,” he said.
“We should keep in mind that the function is related with the traditional form of martial art, Thang Ta where maintaining discipline, behaviour and food habits are very important. Without these things we cannot master this field,” he added.
“This tradition of Thanga Ta has been passed over to us by our ancestors and it is our duty to further carry forward this legacy in a right way to our next generation,” he added.
O Lokendro Singh speaking at the function also emphasized on the need for discipline to succeed in one’s goal.
He further announced free computer training course ranging from three weeks, two weeks and one week to the first, second and third position holders of the championship respectively.
The later part of the programme, which was attended by very few people, saw various forms of Thang Ta demonstration presented by young artists.
