IMPHAL, September 19: The body of Takhellembam Govind Singh, a resident of Takhel Mamang Leikai who was killed in an encounter at Yourabung on September 15 still lies unclaimed.
The JAC instituted in the killing also failed to meet the DGP today and failed to bring a conclusion on the impasse of claiming the body. Convener of the JAC, T Romen told IFP that a memorandum having three demands was submitted to the Chief Minister through the principal secretary (Home) yesterday.
It was later forwarded to the Home minister who again referred it to the state DGP, Y Joykumar.As the JAC tried to meet the mentioned, they were told that the DGP has left for Jiribam to attend the funeral service of the mother of the Law minister, Th Devendro and is scheduled to return by noon tomorrow.
The JAC members mentioned that if the demands are not fulfilled, Govind’s body will not be claimed and agitations will be launched.
