Govt celebrates Teachers Day

IMPHAL, September 5: On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the Education Department (Schools), Government of Manipur celebrated Teacher’s Day here at the Directorate of Education(S), Lamphelpat.

The occasion celebrated the great efforts of the teaching community and the achievements achieved because of their relentlessly efforts.

The occasion was graced by M. Okendro, Minister (Education/CAF & PD) of Manipur as the Chief Guest. Joining him were other dignitary MLAs of various districts of Manipur as well as Director of Education, H. Deleep Singh and former VC of Manipur University Prof C Amuba Singh.

The occasion also had presentation of awards for teachers from various schools that have achieved high rank positions in the last HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, M. Okendro regrets the delayed payments of salary for teachers and assures that the ministry is trying its best in rectifying the issue and he also promised a guest house to be built especially for retired teachers coming from villages to Imphal.

He praised the teachers who have been working so hard in building strong students despite the adversities teachers might be facing.

Meanwhile, H. Deleep Singh expressed the importance of participation of students in co-curricular activities and also expressed his concern over schools flourishing in the middle of the city without even a playground for the children and that, while granting permission to establish schools, such requirements must be made.
