MOREH, September 29: One day basic training program on human rights organized by Centre for Human Rights & Duties Education, Manipur University at the conference hall of the Moreh Trade Centre in collaboration with the National Human Rights COmmision, New Delhi.
Attended by Naharolgi Thoudang Editor, Khoirom Loyalakpa as chief guest, Centre for Human Rights & Duties Education, Manipur University co-ordinator Dr Suresh Kumar Singh as functional president and SDPO Moreh, Balaram and MCM secy N Inaocha as guests of honour.
Speaking during the program, Dr Suresh said the people of the state are good at demanding their rights however if we fail to perform our duties then we cannot achieve our full rights.
He continued that people can enjoy their rights fully only when they understand the law. Spreading legal awareness amongst the general public will also help in fighting against rights violations in the state, he said.
Thoudang editor Loyalakpa said in order to fight the human rights violation by state and non state actors, we need to educate the general public.
SDPO Balaram has also said that in order to bridge the gap between the security personnel and the general public we need to impart basic legal training to the people.
