IMPHAL, Sept 2: An improvised explosive device (IED) was found planted near the residence of a Panchayat Election candidate at Sanjenbam Awang Leikai which comes under Lamsang Police Station jurisdiction at around 3.30 pm today.
The IED which was found packed in a tin fish jar, with a mobile phone as the triggering device . It was found approximately 150 feet from the residence of Lairenkabi Kadangban Gram Panchayat Member candidate,namely Thounaojam Haimo,50, s/o Shamu of Sanjenbam Awang Leikai.
Police bomb squad recovered the IED and detonated it at a safe zone.
