IMPHAL, Sept 8: Like in parts of the world, International Literacy Day, under the theme “Literacy and Peace” was organised by UNESCO Club Manipur at Tribal Research Institute, TRI, Chingmeirong, Imphal Manipur.
Director, Tribal Affairs and Hills, Lunminthang Haokip graced the occasion as chief guest.
Prizes were distributed to children who participated in the Mitsubishi Asian Children Enniki Festival 2011. Later, a book titled “Learning the way of peace”, a teachers guide to peace education published by UNESCO were distributed to the participants.
