IMPHAL, September 4: A high ranking cadre of the PLA has been arrested by a team of the Border Security Force from Shillong yesterday evening.
According to a reliable source, the arrested cadre is identified as one Athokpam Surchandra alias Ningthou , a resident of Thongju Part 2, Singjamei ,Imphal West.He is holding rank of a lieutenant in the proscribed outfit.
He was priorly arrested with arms and ammunition by Imphal West district police commandos on January 9 last.
It may be mentioned that his arrest came after the incident of one PLA cadre namely s/s Captain Sarangthem Jayenta alias Vicky was arrested on August 30 from Guwahati LGBI Airport by Assam Police.
