IMPHAL, September 14: The 41st Foundation Day Celebration of The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal was held today at Jubilee Hall of the Institute. The occasion was graced by Dr. Jagdish Prasad, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India as the Chief Guest. Along with him to grace the occasion were Prof. Ng. Bijoy Singh, MLA and former Vice Chancellor of MU as the President and Prof. A. Dwijamani Singh, Former Medical Superintendent and Retd. Professor of Medicine, RIMS as the Guest of Honour respectively.
Prof. S. Sekharjit Singh, Director of the Institute gave the Annual Report on the occasion. He informed that the Dental College officially started this academic session and the admission process of the first batch of BDS course is now almost complete. He also gladly informed that many technological facilities have also be procured and installed in the Institution for better care of patients. He also announced that a multi storey modern OPD building, five hostels and other expansions will be starting with the approval of the Ministry and executed by HSCC, Noida.
A Ladies Hostel having 22 rooms was also inaugurated today by Chief Guest Dr. Jagdish Prasad in which 44 girls students will be accommodated. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jagdish Prasad expressed his appreciation of the Institution in its working and contribution to the society amidst various constrains and to be able to produce capable Doctors who have contributed so much to the State and the rest of the country. He further explained that Government of India sees a great potential in RIMS and that the Ministry will contribute as much as it can to bring the Institute in par with other medical institution in the rest of the country.
